If I had to choose one set of family photos that's a "must", it's the newborn session. They're slow-paced and intentional, meant to capture every detail of your little one in their first days or weeks in the world. This session was extra special for me, as Mandi and I have been friends practically our entire lives. Our moms were pregnant together (we were born less than two months apart), we grew up going to church and youth group together, and we have stayed friends throughout all of the stages of our lives. She and her husband welcome their beautiful daughter Emery this October and I had the immense privilege of shooting their newborn session.

As with all of my newborn sessions, I first captured the nursery details and family portraits in the nursery. We then moved to a neutral bedroom to capture some of Emery alone and some alongside her parents. Finally, it was a stunning evening so we moved outside to take some family portraits with the setting sun streaming through the trees. Lots of shots throughout of her little hands and features alongside toys and her parents' hands so that they can remember how little she was for this brief time. I love you (and your parents) so much baby Emery!
